Yesterday was the anniversary of New Riff's first bourbon distillation and was put in the barrel three days later. Members of their Ranger program were able to visit the distillery on Father's Day for a tasting of that barrel and an open house. This bourbon was a very light color, it had a sweet taste but was not complex. It came out of the barrel at 108 proof. It was very smooth for just one year and did not have much burn. It was very similar to their "New Make" which is very smooth, compared to other white whiskeys it does not have quite as much bite. The Ranger program at New Riff is a very interesting program, essentially you buy your bottle four years ahead of time. Also you get deals on their merchandise and exclusive opportunities to purchase other products before the general public. I would recommend this program to anyone, even if you don't live in the area. You can learn more about it here or stop by their distillery located in Newport, KY.
